Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.
We have recently updated our website with great efforts to increase accessibility, and the data reflects that we have achieved a more accessible platform. However, we are continuing to test and improve in this area on a regular basis.

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.
Limitations and alternatives
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of Benihana, there may be some limitations. Below are descriptions of known limitations. Please contact us at [email protected] if you observe an issue not listed below.
Known limitations for Benihana:
1. WCAG 2.0 A 1.1.1 Non-text Content
a. There are many images on the site that need more descriptive alt text that includes context of the website. We are actively researching the most efficient and effective solution to resolve these issues, as we are aware of the confusion it can cause users relying on screen readers for information.
2. WCAG 2.0 A 1.3.1 Info and Relationships
a. During testing, we discovered that some forms on the site need better labels, and a few fields are missing labels. The ‘Preferences Center’ page form fields are being pulled in by a third party (Selligent) so we cannot control the labels. We are currently searching for a solution to this issue.
b. On some forms with date-selectors, the user experience is not ideal, as the user must navigate through many steps in order to find their desired date. This is one of our most urgent issues and at the top of our list for finding a solution.
3. WCAG 2.1 AA 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum)
a. There are just a few contrast issues with text color on a background with just under the sufficient amount of contrast. These issues are found on pages in our blog, Chef’s table, contact us page, and foot-print center.
4. WCAG 2.1 AA 2.1.1 Keyboard
a. On the reservations page, or in any reservations section, in the calendar modal – it may be difficult for keyboard users to choose a date other than today. However, in the next section there is another opportunity to confirm the desired date. This is currently being looked at and a solution will be executed as soon as possible.
5. WCAG 2.1 AA 1.4.10 Reflow
a. On some smaller screens, pages scroll in two dimensions. This makes for a more difficult user experience in general, but especially for users that may need to zoom to read text.
6. WCAG 2.0 A 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context)
a. There are several text links that use generic text. This is an unfortunate legacy of older site content, and we are working to rid our site of vague links and buttons.
Action being taken
We are working with an external team to address these issues plus refining the site in other areas for accessibility. We plan to resolve the above issues by May 2025 and will retest for accessibility regularly.
In the meantime, if you encounter any accessibility limitations while using our website please contact us via email at this address: [email protected].
